Pre-Workout Nutrition
Pre-workout nutrition is important very important, a good pre-workout meal will provide you with an abundance of energy to reach your maximum performance while in the gym. Increased energy from this meal will keep you from getting tired during your workout and might help you in getting a couple of extra reps or increasing the weight on some of your lifts.
Pre-workout meals should be consumed one to two hours before your workout, These times will be determined by your metabolism and how much you eat. You want the food to digest a little before your workout or you might end up with your pre-workout meal on the ground which is gross and embarrassing and would leave you without all the benefits of the meal during your workout.
A proper pre-workout meal should consists of low to medium GI carbohydrates, Protein which includes essential Amino Acids, and some essential fatty acids. Carbohydrates are the main source of energy during a workout, some foods with low GI carbohydrates are most fruits and vegetables, grainy breads, pasta, legumes/pulses, milk, yoghurt, whole wheat products, basmati rice, sweet potato, table sugar. Protein is the essential building blocks of muscles. Without it, your muscles would not grow. They also ensure proper nitrogen balances in the muscle. High protein foods include eggs, tuna, lean beef, chicken, and turkey. Essential fatty acids are necessary for maintaining high testosterone levels, They also keep the energy levels up and are necessary for fat soluble vitamins. Foods with Essential fatty acids are fish, shellfish, flaxseed, hemp oil, soya oil, canola oil, chia seeds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, leafy vegetables, and walnuts.
Proper pre-workout meals and will allow you to have increased muscle strength, better endurance, give you increased energy, give you better pumps, burn more calories and fat or improve concentration.
