Does it really matter if I use too much resistance while working out?
I am planning on purchasing a Gripmaster Hand Exerciser and currently have my eyes set on the black color heavy tension model (9 lbs of tension per finger). I've never used such a hand exerciser before, so 9 pounds of tension may be too much though I really have no way of knowing. If indeed I find that this is too much tension, will my hand muscles gradually acclimate? What are the negatives or potential health concerns (if any) of using too much tension while working out?
Thanks for your responses so far. Just for clarification, I am intending to do these exercises primarily to increase the strength of my grip, and in no way was I thinking of using the Gripmaster as a means to stay in shape or to maintain my physique.
