Do whey or soy protein has sideaffects?

Whey is basically the protein pulled out of dairy. You can use it to boost the protein in your morning smoothie. I would be careful to make sure the whey comes from dairy that comes from cows that are not given bovine growth hormones to fool their bodies into making more milk. In other words, made from ORGANIC MILK.
Soy, on the other hand, shoud be AVOIDED. All soy. Period. Soybean oil in many processed foods will block your body's ability to absorb nutrients from all food you are taking in.
A whole range of soy products has hit the marketplace, as in soy milk, soy ice cream, soy protein bars, soy protein drink, soy lunchmeats, soy burgers, soy cheese, and so on... all of it is incredibly bad for you. It contains goitrogens - which put your thyroid flat on its back - makes you tired and fat. It contains growth inhibitor, that will keep a child from growing normally.
Soybeans are high in phytic acid, present in the bran or hulls of all seeds. It's a substance that can block the uptake of essential minerals - calcium, magnesium, copper, iron and especially zinc - in the intestinal tract.
Vegetarians who consume tofu and bean curd as a substitute for meat and dairy products risk severe mineral deficiencies, including that of calcium, magnesium, zinc and iron - in other words, it will set you up for osteoporosis.
It contains the endocrine-disrupting isoflavones, genistein and diadzen - really awful. From personal experience, a few years ago I took on a diet in which I substituted soy products for meat and dairy. I felt fine for a few weeks, but noticed that my menstrual periods became really heavy, painful, smelly and lasted for 2 weeks instead of maybe 5 days - and I was PMS-ing the rest of the month! It took me 2 years of aggressive supplementation to get over 2 months of a soy-based diet!
So if you are thinking of using soy as a protein booster... DON'T. Your body can't access the protein in soy, and it will put you in a tailspin on all your other nutrients!
